A local court awarded 10-year jail to an Uttar Pradesh native for possessing 2-kg charas.

The convict has been identified as Raghvendra Tiwari. He was also directed to pay a fine of Rs 1.01 lakh by the court.

On October 14, 2016, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) received a tip-off that a person would deliver 2-kg charas to someone in an auto-rickshaw near the railway station around 6 am. A naka was laid near the railway light point on Madhya Marg. At 6:10 am, an auto came from the railway station side and was stopped for checking. The face of the driver matched with the information received. The auto driver disclosed his identity as Raghvendra Tiwari, resident of UP. He then handed over the polythene containing the drugs to the police. He was asked to show a permit or license for possessing the drugs, but he failed to do so. He was then booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and arrested.
