Wolf slips out of its enclosure, caught later

Zirakpur, November 5

A wolf slipped out of its enclosure at Chattbir Zoo early morning today. However, it was later rescued by the Zoo QRT (Quick Rescue Team) on its premises.

As per information, the animal reportedly slipped after damaging the iron mesh of its enclosure with its teeth. It kept wandering within the zoo premises.

A QRT team laid a trap to catch the animal. An official of the zoo said the QRT cordoned off the area. It was caught manually before the zoo opened, the official added.

“A mild dose of a sedative was given to the animal with the help of a tranquilising gun. The animal was later shifted to the enclosure with its pair,” the official said.

The zoo authorities have decided to net the enclosure properly, where the pair has been kept, to avoid such incidents in future. — TNS
