Like every year, the junior wing of Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, hosted its annual play today. The play is a symphony of music, dance and theatre.
Performing arts at the YPS form an integral part of our curriculum, said the school and added that exposure to theatre, music and dance equipped the children with essential life skills and attributes such as confidence, team-work, leadership skills and fluency in English.
This year's 'Hide and Seek' was staged at Tagore Theatre. 'Hide' was a dragon whose true identify was hidden behind his exterior and 'Seek', an adventurous girl, who befriended the dragon and sets out a quest to save him. What unfolded was a tale of friendship and trust that challenges deep set beliefs. The village folk were not ready to accept that a dragon could be harmless or that a dragon slaying knight could be a woman.
Rehat Kaur essayed the role of song-loving dragon. Hunnardeep Kaur played 'Seek'. The vibrant dragon dances choreographed by Renu Pant, dance teacher, were a harmony of feelings and colours. The composition of music teachers, Seyiekhrienyu Usou and Jagpreet Singh had the audience tapping their feet to the beat.
