Two held for duping over 350 people

NEW DELHI:Two accused, who duped more than 350 persons of approximately Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of providing them loans, were arrested yesterday, said a police official.

Two accused, who duped more than 350 persons of approximately Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of providing them loans, were arrested yesterday, said a police official.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep (25), who is an advisor in Max Insurance Company, and Ayush Dixit (22), a telecaller in a call centre.

On November 23, a woman filed a complainant at the Mayapuri Police Station that she received a call from a man who introduced himself as Aakash Jain and offered a loan on easy terms and conditions.

Two men namely Aakash Jain and Gaurav Kapoor visited her house and allured the complainant to provide them various documents and Rs 20,000 as processing fee.

The complainant agreed and provided them the documents and Rs 20,000. She again received the call from the accused who told her that loan has been sanctioned and it will be get credited to her account on the very next day if she makes some more payment and consequently she deposited approximately Rs 55,000 through mobile wallet, he said.

Afterwards, she tried to contact them many times but their mobile numbers were found switched off. 

Both the accused were arrested on the basis of secret inputs. Several registers of accounts, electronic storage devices, receipt books and others items were seized.
