Youth held for stabbing another to death

A youth who had stabbed another to death in an alcohol-fuelled rage on December 15 at around 1.19 am has been arrested, said police.

According to the DCP Chinmoy Biswal, today at 1:19 am, an information regarding death of Shivam (22), resident of Transit Camp in Govindpuri, was received from AIIMS Trauma Centre. The deceased had three stab injuries and was declared brought dead by doctors. The body was handed over to his family after conducting the post mortem.

Investigation revealed that the deceased was admitted at hospital by his friend, Bunty and that the deceased with his two friends, Bunty and Aslam, were sitting in B-Block Park at late night after consuming alcohol, police said.

When Bunty and Aslam were going home, a local boy, Azim (22), came there and following an argument on some monetary issues with Shivam, he brought a knife and stabbed Shivam. Bunty came to the spot on hearing Shivam shouting and saw Azim running from the spot, police said.

Beat staff and informers were mobilised to trace the accused and at about 3 pm, Azim, resident of the Transit Camp, was arrested from Okhla Service Road, said police.

Azim, a school dropout, disclosed that he knew Shivam as they both lived in the same locality. Yesterday night, they both were under influence of alcohol and in an alcohol-fuelled rage, he stabbed the deceased to death, the DCP added.
