Swindler flees with jewellery

LUDHIANA: A swindler duped an NRI woman of her purse containing gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh.

A swindler duped an NRI woman of her purse containing gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh.

Manmohan Kaur, wife of Raj Bedi, a resident of Auckland, New Zealand, said she and her husband visited the Old City and Chaura Bazar area for shopping. While her husband went for shopping, she preferred to stay back in the car.

While she was waiting for her husband to return, a youth approached her and told her that some currency notes were lying near the car. When she alighted from the vehicle to pick the currency notes, the youth grabbed her purse containing gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh and ran away.

She reported the matter to the police.
