Shimla, August 30

After sending the skeletal remains of four-year-old Yug for the DNA test, the state CID crime branch has now sent blood samples of his father Vinod Gupta for DNA profiling to forensic laboratory, Junga.

The investigation team has sufficient evidence that the skeletal remains were of Yug who was kidnapped and murdered two years ago but DNA test was necessary for proving it in the court.

DSP Bhupinder Bragta, investigating the case, said, “Although the skeleton had been in the water tank for more than two years, the DNA test can be conducted from the femur bone and Mandibular canine. The DNA matching reports are expected in three weeks and challan will be put up after reports are received.”

Three accused Chander, Tajender and Vikrant, who have been sent to judicial custody, have been kept in isolation in different cells away from the other jail inmates as it is feared that they might attack one another or may be attacked by other jail inmates.

Sources said following an attempt made by accused Tajender to weave a rope from the threads of blankets to harm himself, the jail authorities have ensured that no such substance be placed in their cells which can be used for committing suicide.

The BJP today performed a yajna for the peace of the departed soul at the water tank in Keleston where the body was dumped.

The family of the accused Chander Sharma has partially opened the shop in Ram Bazaar but in view of the call given by the family members of the deceased and other organisations to isolate them, there were few customers. However, the cosmetic shop of Tajender is still closed.
