Employees, unions observe May Day

CHANDIGARH:May Day was celebrated at different places of the city by the employees and trade organisations today.

May Day was celebrated at different places of the city by the employees and trade organisations today. Federation of UT Employees and Workers Chandigarh and Coordination Committee of Employees and Workers Chandigarh, CITU, Employee Forum, Punjab Board and Corporation Maha Sangh, today celebrated May Day near Electricity Office, Sector 18-A, Chandigarh. The function was addressed by Raghbir Chand, Rajinder Katoch and Gopal Dutt Joshi. 

Electrical Workmen Union celebrated May Day at a function held at General Hospital, Sector 16. The function was attended by the president of the union Kishori Lal, vice-president Ashwini Kumar, Virendra Singh and Daya Ram. While addressing the gathering Rakesh Kumar, convener of the coordination committee, said the administration should come up with the pro employees policies and should end exploitation of the contractual employees. Residents of the LBS colony staged a protest against the demolition of the colony and observed the May Day as black day. 

 Meanwhile, The Tribune Employees Union organised a rally to mark Labour Day. Union president Anil Gupta lead the employees in remembering the martyrs of Chicago.
