Former minister and senior vice-president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Sham Lal Sharma on Wednesday said the PDP-BJP government had failed on all fronts.

He said except promises nothing had been done on the ground to solve the day-to-day problems of the people.

Sham Lal was addressing public meetings in Udhampur and Ramban districts along with party general secretary Manmohan Singh and co-treasurer Rajnesh Sharma on Wednesday.

Various issues pertaining to non-availability of ration, erratic power supply and poor roads were raised by people during the meetings.

The Congress leaders were also apprised of the hardships faced by locals due to the non-availability of ration for the last six months. They were told that the situation may further worsen if ration was not supplied to the people.

People appealed to the Congress leaders to raise the issue of power woes before the government and in the Assembly.

Various organisational matters were also discussed. The party leaders also asked the workers to accelerate the membership drive so that the maximum number of members could be enrolled.

Sham Lal assured the local leaders that he would raise their issues at an appropriate level soon.

He said in case the demands of the locals were not redressed, the Congress would go for large-scale protest against the PDP-BJP coalition government.
