Chandigarh, January 19
VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, said: "The GST system is a revolutionary step in the taxation system. It will help both the dealers and the government."
Badnore was the chief guest in the seminar on "GST: Overview and Challenges" held at the Hotel Mount View today. The seminar was organised by the Excise and Taxation Department, Chandigarh Administration for the dealers.
Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, Sarvjit Singh, Finance Secretary-cum-Secretary Excise and Taxation, Ajit Balaji Joshi, Excise and Taxation Commissioner, and Rakesh Kumar Popli, Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner ,were also present on the occasion.
Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, while addressing the gathering said out of 16,500 registered dealers, 12,000 have already being registered themselves on the GSTN Portal successfully.
Rajan Datt, Joint Commissioner, Central Excise, Ravneet Khurana, Deputy Commissioner (GST), CBEC, and Ajay Jagga were the keynote speakers who threw ample light on the various parameters of GST. The seminar was attended by various trade associations of Chandigarh- Beopar Mandal, Industry Association, Grain Market Association, Marble Market Association, Chamber of Commerce and others. Raman Datt, Joint Commissioner, Ravneet Khurana, Commissioner, GST, and Ajay Jagga, advocate, gave overview on the challenges and also replied the queries raised by the different trade associations. —TNS
