Chief Minister Harish Rawat today handed over fixed deposit certificates to women as part of the Hamaray Ped Hamara Dhan Yojana. Under the scheme, the state government is providing Rs 300 for every sapling planted.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat at a programme on the eve of Raksha Bandhan announced the Jan Dhan Surkasha Yojana for which the premium will be paid through the Chief Minister’s discretionary fund.

He said the premium amount for the Anganwari Karyakatri Surkasha Yojana would be provided by the state government.

He said his government was working to revive non-functional self-help women groups. “Rural development schemes will be taken up in villages which have ‘sick’ self-help women groups. The role of these groups will be ensured in the development schemes”, he added.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat said the government was committed to involving women in the development process. He said Indira Amma Bhojanalayas would soon be opened in other districts.

Congress President Kishore Upadhyay, Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma, Dehradun District Magistrate Ravinath Raman and a large number of women were present.
