Patiala, February 15

To promote blood, eye and organ donation in India, the Patiala chapter of the Indian Medical Association, along with the Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers’ Association, Patiala, started a blood donation, eye and organ donation campaign here today.

Students of the Government Medical College were also a part of the camp. They were led by Principal BL Bhardwaj and Patiala IMA president Rakesh Arora. The participants pledged to donate blood regularly and motivate the masses for the same.

Addressing the students, Bhardwaj appealed to them to come forward for the noble cause and involve themselves in social activities.

DS Bhullar, General Secretary of the Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers’ Association, said the move was in regard to the decision of the Indian Medical Association to launch a campaign throughout the country under the banner ‘Puchna Mat Bhulo’. Medical associations will urge their members to request their kin to donate eyes (in case of death) and organs (in case of brain death).
