Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu today said the state government, being a promoter of J&K Bank, would provide all help to the bank to overcome its internal and external problems so that it got further strengthened. “The government is a promoter of the bank. It will do whatever is required so that the bank is strengthened and the results are good,” Drabu said while speaking on the occasion of the unveiling ceremony of the bank’s wall calendar at its corporate headquarters today.

Referring to the focus on young achievers portraying 12 pages of the calendar of 2017, the Finance Minister said the state was bestowed with immense talent among the youth, which needed to be explored. “I never saw it as a calendar but as a social intervention,” Drabu, a former chairman of the bank, said.

Speaking on the occasion, chairman and CEO of J&K Bank, Parvez Ahmad, said in a departure from the past practice, the focus was on the young achievers in different fields of life. They are “pride of the state” and an “attempt was made to inspire youth to aspire them for bigger goals in life”, Parvez Ahmad said while felicitating the youths. He said those selected for the calendar pages had distinct achievements in different fields of activity from academics to sports. The young achievers awarded on the occasion included Abhay Rustum Sopori, Akbar Khan, Sanjay Saraf, Chandeep Singh, Ranveer Singh Jamwal, Insha Manzoor, Rouf Banday, Hashim Mansoor, Tajamul Islam, Sonam Wangchuk and Shah Faesal.
