Juvenile among 3 held for thrashing cops

Chandigarh, June 10

Two constables of the Chandigarh Police, posted with the Cheetah motorcycle squad, were allegedly thrashed by two youths and a juvenile in Sector 53 last night.

Sources said the constables, Ram and Umesh, were on night patrolling when they saw a group of youths standing near a park. On seeing the policemen come towards them, the youths started fleeing on their motorcycles.

The police said three persons riding a motorcycle rammed the bike into the police motorcycle following which all three fell on the ground.

As the policemen tried to apprehend the youths, the latter started thrashing them.

The policemen raised the alarm following which the youths fled from the spot.

Inspector Ram Dayal, SHO of the Sector 36 police station, said two youths — Rajesh and Jitender — had arrested along with the juvenile. A case has been registered.

The youths were produced in the court today, which remanded them in judicial custody. The juvenile was sent to a juvenile home.
