People living in flats or apartments face scarcity of space. To make the most of the area available, interior decorators suggest opting for minimalist decor. Furnishing your home with straight-lined furniture is one good option. It makes rooms look inviting and spacious. Replace big-heavy pieces of antique furniture with straight-lined contemporary chairs, table, beds, dining table, etc. to create an illusion of space. To render an airy feel to the interiors, select furniture with minimalist design. Instead of adding several small pieces, you can go for decorative pieces that are right-sized to fit comfortably in the space.

Bedroom basics

Furniture that is a blend of crisp lines and softer curves works best in a bedroom. Segregate the space by adding round rugs on the floor. Beware! Putting too many small rugs in a bedroom may clutter it. A square-furniture theme gives a classy look to the room. Contemporary home decor usually comprises elements like side tables, ottomans and soft-foam cushions that are designed to complement clean, sleek lines. Most of the hotel rooms are furnished with straight line pieces of furniture, be it bed, chairs or side table, only for the reason — these are easy to maintain, occupy lesser space and comfortable to use.

Kitchen counter

While decorating, the heart of the house that is the kitchen always consider your layout. Keep slots for utensils, pots, bowls, and appliances. As this is the most functional space of the house, it should be easy to maintain. Straight-lined kitchen table and chairs give it an aesthetic and modern appeal. Neutral shades such as white and fawn further create an illusion of space and helps reflect light. To add colour, accessorise the kitchen with gold tiles or a bright back-splash mosaic tiles. Stick to rectangular shape of drawers and utensil sinks to avoid any hassle of cleaning the kitchen.
