Chandigarh, December 7

City Mayor Harphool Chander Kalyan today distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions at the Chrysanthemum show at Terraced Garden, Sector 33.

A cultural programme was also presented by the school children. As many as 256 varieties of Chrysanthemum have been displayed at the show.

As per the Municipal Corporation officials, the event had attracted scores of visitors this year compared to the last year. The second day of the show witnessed a huge footfall from all walks of life.

Ashish, a visitor, said, “A large variety of blooming flowers are a treat for the eyes. The pleasant ambience of the garden is mesmerising.” Talking on similar lines, another visitor Ishita Sharma said, “The flowers have been well decorated and are in full bloom.”

The beautiful displays of Chrysanthemum in the show have helped the city acquire national fame.

Gardeners and participants in the show have spruced up the event by designing the structures of various animals and birds using flowers.

The three-day show organised by the MC will be on till December 8.
