A man and his son were brutally murdered in the Tandi area of the Badhota panchayat in the Landher area of Panchari tehsil of Udhampur district late last night.

The deceased were identified as Sarjoo, 55, and his son Beenia, 22. This is the third incident of double murder case in the Panchari tehsil, which include the double murder case of a couple in 2008 and a woman and her granddaughter in 2011.

The modus operandi in all three double murder cases was the same. Besides, the police had not been able to solve at least four other murder cases that took place in the tehsil in the recent past.

The police have lifted the fingers prints and all other evidence from the spot.

The bodies were shifted to the Landher Primary Health Centre for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family members for the last rites.

A similar murder case took place in the Purani Bhutti area of the Panchari tehsil in 2008, where a couple — Ashok Khajuria and Premala — was murdered by adopting the same modus operandi. Likewise, a woman and her granddaughter were also murdered in Panchari.

Meanwhile, locals also staged a protest against the double murder case and alleged that the police had not been able to arrest the accused who had committed the crimes.
