The Punjab Motor Sport Club is organising an auto cross event, food festival, an off-roading and air show here at the Ireo Waterfront, Sidhwan Canal Road, from March 24 to 26.

Addressing a press conference here today, Anchit Dhir, president of the organising club, said this was the only place in northern India to host a dirt track. The club is certified by the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI).

“The motive of this event is to integrate the spirit and awareness of this thrilling sport and also give an equal opportunity to all participants and professionals to take part in a professionally organised competition in a safe manner. Participants from all over the country are taking part in the event. It will also be entertained by many professional car racers and bike riders from across the country,” said Dhir.

He said drivers have to be agile and tackle sharp bends and skillful turning points to score high. The club has future plans to continue these events and expand its platform to make this sport to a happening and healthy trend within the youth. The off-roading track would be made to cross six stages for the extreme and four stages for other vehicles, he said.
