Notorious poacher held from Punjab

DEHRADUN: The police have arrested notorious poacher Ram Bhagat from Bhatinda in Punjab. The Uttarakhand Police, acting on a tip-off, reached Dhobiyana Basti in Bhatinda and arrested Ram Bhagat. Haridwar SSP Rajeev Swaroop has announced Rs 2,500 as reward for the police team which arrested the poacher.

The police have arrested notorious poacher Ram Bhagat from Bhatinda in Punjab.

The Uttarakhand Police, acting on a tip-off, reached Dhobiyana Basti in Bhatinda and arrested Ram Bhagat. Haridwar SSP Rajeev Swaroop has announced Rs 2,500 as reward for the police team which arrested the poacher.

Ram Bhagat disclosed to the police that he was involved in a number of poaching incidents in the Najibabad Kotdwar forest area. He along with his accompalices used to lay traps for tigers and beat them to death with sticks once they were trapped. Later they would take off the skin of the animals with knives. Similarly, nails, teeth and other body parts were also segregated and hidden in bags to be sold in the market illegally.
