State doc makes it to London’s Royal College

PALAMPUR: Dr Sushma Sood, a gynaecologist, has been selected as the Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists, London.

Dr Sushma Sood, a gynaecologist, has been selected as the Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists, London.

She is the first doctor from the state to have received the prestigious degree on May 20. Sushma did her MBBS and MD from Indira Gandhi Medical College. She had to crack a three-step exam to make it to the college. Sushma worked with the Health Department from 1983 to 2008. She provided round-the-clock services to patients in the Civil Hospital, Palampur, for 25 years.

Her greatest contribution is to the National Family Planning Programme where she performed more than 50,000 operations. She organised family planning camps in remotest areas of Kangra district.
