FARIDKOT: Three persons, including a child, were killed and six others injured when a tempo loaded with vegetables crashed into shanties along the Kotkapura-Bathinda highway here today.

Faridkot, February 6

Three persons, including a child, were killed and six others injured when a tempo loaded with vegetables crashed into shanties along the Kotkapura-Bathinda highway here today.

The accident took place when the tempo driver lost control over the vehicle and drove over some shanties along the road near the Kotkapura grain market. Most of the victims were asleep when the accident occurred.

According to police sources, tempo driver Harjit Singh was on the way to Bathinda from Ferozepur to transport vegetables. The victims belonged to a migrant family from Bihar.

While Raiba (50), his daughter Varuna (28) and granddaughter Babli (3) died on the spot, four other persons, including three children, received serious injuries.

The tempo driver and cleaner also suffered injuries. The injured have been admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.

The victims belonged to Bhagalpur district of Bihar and were living in shanties raised outside the grain market for the past many years.
