Thapar students fetch hefty pay packages

PATIALA:Students of Thapar University, Patiala, were placed with several prominent companies of India as well as other countries with hefty packages this year.

Students of Thapar University, Patiala, were placed with several prominent companies of India  as well as other countries with hefty packages this year.   

While two students, who were offered the post of research and development engineer at the Singapore office of Japanese IT firm Works Applications Co Ltd, bagged an annual package of Rs 38 lakh, DE Shaw & Walmarts Labs India was not far behind as it offered pay packages ranging from Rs 18.57 lakh to Rs 24.50 lakh. 

Global e-commerce giant Amazon India hired two students at an annual package of Rs 15.50 lakh.  Global IT giants like  Microsoft,  Synopsys & Black Rock hired five, one and eleven students with an an attractive starting salary of Rs 11.50 lakh,  Rs 11.58 lakh and  Rs 10.50 lakh  per annum, respectively. 

Similarly, global telecom/semiconductor giants like Texas Instruments, Juniper Networks and Freescale Semiconductors offered hired as many as 17 students with a pay package of Rs 15.20 lakh,  Rs 10.50 lakh  and  Rs 10.31 lakh, respectively. 

HSBC Software Development hired five student at a salary of Rs 12 lakhs per annum. Even start-up firms like PropTiger and Gwynniebee hired four and five students with an annual salary of Rs 12.30 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, respectively.  

This year, 932 students of the university have been placed with 181 top corporate companies of the country as well as other countries.
