The Sarabha Nagar police have booked six persons, including two women, for committing a travel fraud worth several lakhs with a Faridkot-based resident. They failed to provide visa to the victim and even did not return his money.

The accused have been identified as Nancy Gill, Jaspreet Singh, Rachpal Singh and Sukhpal Kaur, residents of BRS Nagar, Satinder Pal and Gurpal Singh, residents of JK Plaza, Ludhiana.

The complainant, Guryadwinder Singh, a resident of Hardyalana village in Faridkot, told the police that he had struck a deal with the accused to send him to Canada. The deal was finalised for Rs 13 lakh, which he had paid to the travel agents.

When the accused failed to arrange the visa, Guryadwinder filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) on May 25 this year. After the ACP conducted an inquiry, he found the travel agents guilty.

“Despite taking the advance money of Rs 13 lakh, the accused did not arrange visa. When I asked them to arrange visa or return my money, the travel agents refused to repay the same,” said the complainant. Later, the ACP ordered the registration of a fraud case against the accused.
