Senior SAD leader Virsa Singh Valtoha has been appointed district president (rural) of the party for Tarn Taran. In a press release, SAD said Valthoha, who is a chief parliamentary secretary, has been elected MLA for the second time from Khemkaran Assembly constituency.

Man gets life term for son’s murder
A local court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to a man for the murder of his son. Additional district and sessions judge Sunita Kumari Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Sukhwinder Singh of Akalgarh village near Kurali. On May 7 last year, Sukhwinder had injured his son Rajbir (12) by hitting him with a hammer. Rajbir had later succumbed to his injuries after reaching the PGI.
