Villagers block Jind road

JIND: Supporters of sarpanch candidate Karmjit Kaur from Rohda village blocked the Safidon-Asandh road for two hours today.

Jind, January 10

Supporters of sarpanch candidate Karmjit Kaur from Rohda village blocked the Safidon-Asandh road for two hours today.

They lifted the blockade after an intervention of DC Vinay Singh.

Karmjit’s husband Navdeep Singh and 18 others have been booked for murdering Azad Singh on Friday night. The supporters alleged that the officers concerned did not allow their agents to sit in the polling booth. Therefore, they held a demonstration on the Safidon-Asandh road and raised slogans against the administration.

On the other hand, some government employees posted at the polling booth alleged that they did not prevent anyone from sitting in the booth and Karmjit’s supporters were themselves staying away.

After getting information about the blockade, the Deputy Commissioner and SP Abhishek Jorwal and other senior officers reached on the spot. — TNS
