Panchkula, January 12

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today ruled out Assembly elections this year. He was interacting with mediapersons after the programme ‘Meet the Chief Minister’ in Government College, Sector 1.

The event was organised on National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

He said Assembly elections would be held in 2019 as per schedule. “No question of holding the next Assembly elections in 2018,” he said.

On a call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Haryana was ready if Vidhan Sabha elections were held with Lok Sabha elections next year, said the Chief Minister.

Asked about the proposed three-day visit of BJP president Amit Shah from February 15, the Chief Minister said Shah’s visit had been finalised during his visit to Rohtak last year.

The youth of Haryana would organise rallies on motorcycles and make the people aware about achievements of the government during his visit, the Chief Minister added.

Ayurvedic AIIMS for P’kula

Asked to comment on the Panchkula Medical College, Khattar said approval had been granted to establish an AYUSH AIIMS in Panchkula, for which 25 acres had been identified.

With a view to establishing a medical college in each district, approval had been given for establishing such colleges in seven districts and approval for seven colleges was in progress, Khattar said.

NSUI leaders wave black flags

After the event, NSUI leaders, including newly elected state unit president Divyanshu Budhiraja, raised slogans against the state government and Manohar Lal Khattar. The NSUI leaders waved black flags for not fulfilling promised made to the youth and unemployed in the state. The police rounded up the NSUI leaders for questioning.
