Chandigarh, July 2

To prevent and control vector-borne diseases and waterborne diseases in the state, regular door-to-door fever survey would be carried out.

Health Minister Anil Vij said number of cases of these diseases had a tendency to increase after rain due to breeding of mosquitoes in stagnant water. “The season is also prone to waterborne diseases as contamination of water occurs due to accumulation of water, leakages in pipelines,” he said.

He said a plan had been prepared for the prevention and control of malaria, dengue, chikungunya and other diseases. He said all SMOs and Medical Officers had been directed to take meetings with sarpanches of their areas repeatedly to ensure non-stagnation of water, channelisation of choked drains and cleanliness.
