Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Revenue and Disaster Management, has asked Deputy Commissioner Vinay Singh to prepare a WhatsApp group of persons deployed on flood-protection duty.

She gave the direction at a meeting of officers in Rai on Monday. The meeting was convened to review flood-protection measures taken by the district administration.

The point of discussion was flood-prone areas, especially villages in Gohana sub-division. Arora asked for the availability of equipment such as boats and pumping sets in the district.

She ordered Sub-divisional Magistrates to review the situation daily and submit reports in the district control room.

The officer stressed the need for regular patrolling on the Yamuna embankment to check plying of loaded trucks and asked the Superintendent of Police to help teams of the Irrigation Department in patrolling.

The DC said 12 villages in Gohana sub-division were prone to floods and de-silting of all 57 drains in the sub-division would be completed by June 20.
