Gender ratio rises from 868 to 926: Kavita

National BJP secretary and co-coordinator, National Task Force for ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign, Tarun Chug has appreciated the Haryana Government and people of the state for making the campaign a success in the last three years.

He was addressing a state-level meeting of the state and district coordinators and co-coordinators of the campaign here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s objective of launching the campaign was to benefit half the population of the country, he said.

Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain claimed that the sex ratio in the state had increased from 868 in December, 2013, to 926 in April, 2017. “The department will constitute committees at the district and subdivisional levels to keep a watch on the implementation of the campaign,” she added.

The minister announced to organise 59,000 awareness rallies, special programmes on the birth of 4.75 lakh girls and 95,000 health check-up camps in the state to give further momentum to the campaign.
