The state government has granted sanction for filing a criminal complaint in court in respect to the alleged imputations made by Congress MLA from Murthal Jai Singh Dahiya concerning the conduct of IPS officer Bharti Arora in discharge of her duties as Director and Principal of Motilal Nehru Sports School, Rai.

In the orders issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) SS Prasad on November 10, the state government has also appointed Vivek Tanwar, an advocate from Rewari, as the special public prosecutor in the case.

The order said the complaint would be filed under Section 199 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code that deals with defamation of public servant employed in connection with the affairs of the state in respect of their conduct in the discharge of his public functions.

Dahiya had earlier moved a privilege notice against Arora after she served him a legal notice following news reports in which he had allegedly levelled serious allegations with regard to her functioning as the Director and Principal of the school.

Speaker Kanwar Pal had, however, disallowed the privilege motion.

Later, Arora had filed a civil defamation suit in a Chandigarh court. — TNS
