Rohtak, June 1

The local administration and police authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the maintenance of peace and law and order during the Jat Mahasammelan slated to be held at Jassia village in the district on Saturday.

Rohtak Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Yash Garg has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in order to prevent any untoward incident during the convention.

Local police officials as well as 600 personnel (20 platoons) requisitioned from the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, two companies of the IRB and one of police commandoes have been pressed into service.

Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh said videography would be carried out to keep tabs on the situation. Several barricades have been erected and traffic routes diverted to prohibit the entry of rallyists to Rohtak town.

Rohtak town has been divided into three sectors and police patrolling parties have been deployed under DSP-level officers in each sector. Duty magistrates have also been deployed along with police personnel.

The entry of heavy vehicles, including roadways as well as cooperative buses, has been banned on the Rohtak-Panipat highway. The heavy vehicles may reach Gohana/Panipat from Rohtak via Lakhanmajra.

The convention is being organised by the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) in order to revive the agitation for the grant of reservation and other related issues.

As per intelligence inputs, nearly 10,000 to 12,000 people are likely to attend the event. The convention is expected to be peaceful, though the possibility of the launch of a fresh stir cannot be ruled out.
