Minister distributes free blankets to 20,000 people

Faridabad: Industry and Environment Minister Vipul Goel distributed free blankets among 20,000 persons living in slum areas here on Sunday. The blankets were distributed at a function organised by Navchetna Trust, of which Goel is one of the trustees. He said, "Only a minuscule proportion of the poor have been covered in today's function. A large population of the poor in the city has been left out. We are considerate towards them as well. The idea is to reach out to the poor with basic amenities in chilly conditions." The BJP government at the Centre and in the state, he said, had been successful in meeting the expectations of the poor. TNS
