Sitting MP and Congress nominee Deepender Singh Hooda today put the BJP government in the dock over farmers’ issues, alleging that it had worked to ruin the farmers’ lives instead of resolving their grievances in the past five years.

“The BJP government has utterly failed not only to execute the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission but also to raise the farmers’ income as promised by it during the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. Farmers are bringing their wheat and mustard to the mandis but the produce is not being procured on various pretexts,” said Deepender while addressing public meetings in Dobh, Gaddhi Kheri, Bahu Jamalpur, Singhpura, Girawar, Khairanthi, Bainsi, Kharak and Gugaheri village here.

He said farming was becoming an unviable option due to the rising agricultural cost and diminishing returns. He alleged that the Prime Minister Fasal Beema Yojana was an eyewash as the farmers were not getting adequate compensation for the crop loss. They were compelled to bear the losses on their own, he said.

Deepender claimed an international airport was to be established in Meham at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore but the BJP government shifted the project to Noida. Even the government also put Madina IMT project in cold storage, he alleged.
