Sonepat: Under the banner of the Antil Chaubisi Seva Samiti, representatives of 13 villages, which were separated from the ambit of the Sonepat Municipal Corporation last year, met Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the Haryana Bhawan, in New Delhi on Saturday. They demanded holding of gram panchayat elections in these villages. Representatives Hari Prakash Aswarpur, Ram Kishan Fauzi and Hawa Singh Deepalpur informed the CM that the work of cleaning and development works had come to a standstill in the absence of gram panchayats in these villages. They also decided to hand over a memorandum of their demands to the Sonepat DC.
Gold medallist wrestlers accorded grand welcome
Sonepat: Four young wrestlers from the Hind Kesri Bajraj Akhara at Bhainswal Kalan village in the district were accorded warm welcome by the village panchayats, akhara chief Shamsher Singh and others on their arrival. The wrestlers had reached their home town after winning gold medals in various categories during the three day Students Olympic Youth Festival National Games concluded at Lovely Professional University, in Punjab. Paramjit won gold in the 57-kg, Deepak in 63-kg, Sumit in 74-kg and Soni in 86-kg categories. Sarpanch Rajesh Malik and Manjita Malik of Bhainswal Kalan gram panchayats hoped that the young wrestlers would repeat their winning performances at other national and international events.
NGO felicitates 90 meritorious rural students
Ambala: The Zila Yuva Vikas Sangathan (ZYVS) on Sunday honoured 90 rural students for performing well in their board exams. The event was organised in Barara. Tarun Kaushal, president, ZYVS, said the students who had achieved over 85 per cent in Class X and XII of the Board of School Education Haryana, and over 90 per cent in the CBSE board exams in Class X and XII had been honoured today. It is an attempt to motivate other children to work hard and achieve good marks in their respective exams,” he said. The NGO had adopted 70 children belonging to the economically weaker section for the ongoing academic session.
Sikkim CM Tamang offers prayers at Bhiwani temple
Hisar: Chief Minister Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang offered prayers at the Pahari Mata Mandir in Pahari village of Bhiwani. The CM visited the residence of BJP MLA Ghanshyam Dass Sharaf in Bhiwani town. Tamang, who is the leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, led his party to victory earlier this year by winning 17 of the 32 seats. Before the Assembly polls in Sikkim, Tamang had taken a pledge to visit the Pahari Mata Mandir if he won the election.
