As the case came up for resumed hearing this afternoon, amicus curiae or the friend of the court Anupam Gupta told a division bench of the high court that former DGP of Haryana KP Singh had himself admitted the factum of rapes.

Gupta told the court that information to this effect was given to him by senior IAS officer Vijay Vardhan.

The amicus curiae said he received a call from another IAS officer Ashok Khemka that Vardhan wanted to talk to him.

Vardhan then called up to say that K P Singh had told him about nine rapes.

Vardhan has already denied talking to Gupta on the issue.

Gupta said the fact that Vardhan called could easily be varied from his call details.

The information was exchanged during the last meeting before the Parkash Singh committee report was finalised.

Gupta also said Vardhan was pulled up by the chief minister for speaking out.

He also told the court that owner of Sukhdev dhaba, who told media about rapes but denied it before SIT “would speak like a cannon” if the case went to the CBI.
