Information about colleges, faculty and students will be just a click away, as the Education Department has launched the “Shiksha Setu” mobile phone application.

Developed by the Department of Higher Education, the mobile app will go a long way in transparent administration and better communication among students, teachers and parents.

A recent order from the Director, Higher Education, to college principals asked them to direct teachers and students to download the app so that stakeholders in the education system benefit from the new technology.

“The mobile app will put online detailed information on students, teachers and other staff members. It will also help in evaluating the performance of students and teachers,” a senior functionary of the Education Department said.

Now, students will get details of the administrative staff of the Higher Education Department, including their contact details, for the redressal of their grievances. Besides, the details of government and private college faculty will be handy for students using the mobile app.

Sources said the app would give a variety of information to students such as college profile, faculty profile, number of seats, admission procedure, internal and external marks and fee structure. Besides, the students can give feedback on events, topics and teachers, the sources said.
