The HMT Bachao Sangharsh Samiti on Tuesday sought the intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to explore reviving the tractor manufacturing unit at Pinjore in Panchkula district.

Samiti convener Vijay Bansal blamed the BJP governments at the Centre and in Haryana for the closure of the unit.

“Even after two years of the unit closing down, the governments have failed to come out with a viable alternative for the use of hundreds of acres of industrial land. Attempts are being made to divert the land for non-industrial purpose so that influential persons close to certain BJP politicians can benefit,” he alleged.

Bansal further said, “The samiti had submitted a vision document that laid out a plan for reviving the manufacturing unit without much financial burden on either the state or the Central government. But there was no follow up on it.” He demanded the unit should be revived for the benefit of the public.
