Toll-free voters’ helpline launched in Haryana

Chandigarh: In view of the Lok Sabha elections, toll-free voters’ helpline number “1950” has been established in each district election office across Haryana. Any person may check his or her name in the voting list through SMS too. Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Dr Inder Jeet said the number would also provide information about polling station and the contact details of the related booth-level officer. TNS

Former Haryana minister Iliyas quits INLD, joins JJP  

Chandigarh: Former Haryana minister Mohammad Iliyas on Monday quit the INLD and joined the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) led by Dushyant Chautala. He called a meeting of his supporters in Mewat and announced his decision to join the JJP. Iliyas’s father Rahim Khan was a popular political leader in Mewat and became MLA in 1967, 1972 and 1982. TNS
