The District Town Planning Department demolished three colonies spread over 17 acres in Assandh on Monday.
Vikram Singh, district town planner, said they had demolished constructions at the level of 50 damp-proof course (DPC), under-construction showroom, electric poles and road networks in three unauthorised colonies on the Assandh-Karnal road and the Assandh-Safidon road.
He said a residential colony was being developed over seven acres, wherein more than 35 constructions at the level of the DPC and road networks had been demolished. Over 15 structures and road networks were demolished in another colony, which was being developed over 8.5 acres. Similarly, a structure was demolished in a colony spread over 1.5 acres.
Meanwhile, a team of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (MC), on the directions of Rajiv Mehta, Commissioner, took possession of around 32 acres in Sirsi village.
MC issued notices
- Several people had encroached upon the MC land.
- The MC had sent notices to them to vacate the land, but they didn’t follow the order.
