Vehicle-lifter escapes from police custody

GURUGRAM: In a dramatic series of events, a vehicle-lifter managed to flee from the clutches of the police when lodged in a local Civil Hospital.

In a dramatic series of events, a vehicle-lifter managed to flee from the clutches of the police when lodged in a local Civil Hospital. He fled the spot when, he was taken for a medical examination after being nabbed, thrashed and handed over to the police. An FIR has been registered at Sohna city police station and police teams are searching for him.

According to the police, it was in the wee hours on Tuesday when four men were trying to steal a Scorpio from Damdama road in Sohna. People in nearby homes woke up hearing sounds and rushed to the spot. There were four vehicle lifters who opened fired at them but when they cornered them, three of the accused fled the spot leaving one behind. People nabbed him and beat him before handing him over to the police.

The accused was identified as Sakeel, native of district Nuh in Mewat and an FIR was registered under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act at Sohna city police station. He was taken to Civil Hospital for medical examination today from where he fled. — TNS
