KANGRA: Thousands of displaced Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday paid obeisance at Aganjar Maha Dev temple here on the occasion of “Jyeshta ashtami”.

Thousands of displaced Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday paid obeisance at Aganjar Maha Dev temple here on the occasion of “Jyeshta ashtami”. A yajna was also organised for peace in the Kashmir valley and world over and ‘pooran ahuti’ was offered.

Satish Kumar Bhat, chairman of the organising committee, said displaced Kashmiri Pandits from different parts of Himachal Pradesh and even from Jammu and Delhi thronged the temple in large number.

Ajay Kaul, a devotee from Jammu, said ‘Jyeshta ashtami’, popularly known as ‘ Mela Kheer Bhawani’ was attended by thousands of displaced Kashmiri Pandits at Tulmula in Ganderbal district of Kashmir valley every year. However, those who could not visit the Valley on the occasion pay obeisance at the kangra temple.

The devotees partook traditional Kashmiri langar on the shrine premises. Local Himachali artistes presented bajans and devotional songs.
