68 Nauni varsity students clear NET

SOLAN: As many as 58 postgraduate students of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, have brought laurels to their alma mater by qualifying the National Eligibility Test (NET) which includes 37 students from the College of Horticulture and 21 from the College of Forestry.

As many as 58 postgraduate students of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, have brought laurels to their alma mater by qualifying the National Eligibility Test (NET) which includes 37 students from the College of Horticulture and 21 from the College of Forestry.

Apart from that, 10 students have been selected for the Agriculture Research Services (ARS) conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This includes eight students from the College of Forestry and two from the College of Horticulture. Besides, four students from the College of Horticulture, Department of Plant Pathology, have also qualified the preliminary examination of ARS. The students who have qualified the ARS examination will be working as scientists in various ICAR institutes, while the students who have qualified the NET will be eligible for the selection to the post of assistant professors in the agricultural universities, said a university press release.

Out of 150 students who appeared in the NET and ARS examination held in May 2017, 58 have been selected from the university which is a big achievement for the university. These students belonged to varied streams line fruit science, vegetable science and plant pathology, entomology, floriculture and landscape architecture, microbiology, plant physiology, forest products, social sciences, environmental sciences and soil and water management and tree improvement and genetic resources department. They will serve in various ICAR research institutes in the country.
