Dharamsala forensic lab upgraded

SHIMLA: The Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Dharamsala, has put another feather in its cap with the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) notifying the lab as an examiner of electronic evidence under Section 79A of the IT Act 2000.

The Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Dharamsala, has put another feather in its cap with the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) notifying the lab as an examiner of electronic evidence under Section 79A of the IT Act 2000.

The lab is the first in the northern part of the country to get notified from the Union Government.

The reports of examinations on hard disks (Media Forensics) and mobile phones from the laboratory are now admissible in all over the country, said Deputy Director, (NR, RFSL) Dharamsala, Dr Meenakshi Mahajan.
