Fake video on Cong Twitter handle; BJP files plaint

SHIMLA: The state BJP today filed a complaint with the Election Commission against a fake video uploaded on the Twitter handle of Himachal Congress. In the video, a woman is beating up a transport union leader, who has been projected as a BJP MLA.

Shimla, March 18

The state BJP today filed a complaint with the Election Commission against a fake video uploaded on the Twitter handle of Himachal Congress. In the video, a woman is beating up a transport union leader, who has been projected as a BJP MLA.

BJP general secretary and in-charge, Lok Sabha elections, Chander Mohan Thakur said the video posted on Twitter was misleading, defamatory and a handiwork of the Congress.

The video shows the man being beaten up with shoes. The truth is that the video was made in 2018 when a woman had thrashed the president of the Transport Union in Hamirpur. The BJP leaders demanded filing of an FIR for defaming the party.

Meanwhile, head of the information technology cell of the state BJP, Chetan Bragta filed a complaint with the cyber cell. “It is surprising that even after the complaint, the video has not been removed from the Twitter handle of the Congress,” he said. — TNS
