Man dies in factory mishap

SOLAN: Indradev (54), an employee of Ambuja Cement Limited’s (ACL) Darlaghat plant, was brutally killed after being entangled in the conveyor belt carrying raw material from the mine area at Kashlog.

Indradev (54), an employee of Ambuja Cement Limited’s (ACL) Darlaghat plant, was brutally killed after being entangled in the conveyor belt carrying raw material from the mine area at Kashlog. He was dragged for 2.5 kms on the conveyor belt till the plant area around 3:15 pm on Friday.

ACL’s unit head Anupan Aggarwal said Indradev was engaged as a fitter was inspecting the mine area. He was not assigned any particular work as such for the day and it was being investigated as to how he fell on the conveyor belt. His body was noticed in the plant area about 2.5 kms ahead where the raw materials like stones are collected.

DSP Darlaghat, Amit Sharma, who visited the spot, said the deceased hailed from Sarkhghat in Mandi and his body was found dangling from the conveyor belt about 2.5 kms ahead of the mine area. The body bore external injuries, especially at the back of the head. Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased was stuck on the conveyor belt. — TNS
