Neerja Bhanot Institute of Hospitality and Fashion was today opened at Crescent Public School, Banuri, Palampur. The idea is to provide vocational training to those desirous of making a career in aviation, hospitality and other sectors.

The institute is a tribute to fearless Ashok Chakra awardee Neerja Bhanot, the 23-year-old Pan Am flight attendant, who died saving 400 passengers.

The institute also announced Neerja Bhanot scholarships for deserving students. Neerja was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra and honoured by the United States of America and Pakistan as well.

In a press conference here today, Reena Rana Chauhan, managing director, said: “Neerja Bhanot institute aims at providing world-class professional training to the youth, who have the vision, drive and ambition to make the most of the career options and available opportunities. Backed by some of the most select, experienced and qualified staff and trainers, the institute will ensure that the students have a positive energy and frame of mind and prove to be an asset. We will make sure their potential is explored. The institute plans to have a nation-wide footprint in the coming years.”
