Mandi, January 10

The telecommunication services have remained disrupted in the tribal district of Lahaul Spiti last for the last three days. The lone service provider BSNL was unable to provide connectivity.

Nearly 60 per cent population of Lahaul shifts to Kullu and Mandi to escape harsh winters. Some family members, especially the aged, stay back in Lahaul. Those staying in Lahaul depend upon the telecommunication service to connect with their family members. In the absence of the telecom facility, the Lahual residents are unable to establish any link with their family members.

The residents of the tribal district have been urging the state government since long to ensure that the BSNL upgrade its services in this remote district on priority because during winter season every year they suffer because of poor service.

Prem Kumar, a resident of Lahaul, who is living here in the Kullu district, said that during the last three days there was no communication with his family in Lahaul Spiti.
