NURPUR: The Nurpur Blood Donors’ Club (NBDC) has been conferred with the National Manav Ratan Award-2018 in Kolkata for promoting blood donation activities in Nurpur.

The Nurpur Blood Donors’ Club (NBDC) has been conferred with the National Manav Ratan Award-2018 in Kolkata for promoting blood donation activities in Nurpur.

Rajiv Pathania, the club president, said coordinators of various clubs from Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Assam, Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal, Delhi and Chandigarh were honoured with the national award by Manab Ekta Foundation, Kolkata, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The NBDC has been working in the area for the past more than three years and so far it has organised 11 blood donation camps in which 1,980 volunteers have donated blood. The club is organising awareness campaigns in the area to sensitise the masses to the significance of blood donation.
