Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, addressing a huge gathering at Seri Munch here today, promised to make the state corruption-free. He told officials to take all steps to curb it.

Targeting the previous Congress regime, the Chief Minister stated that “The Congress has pushed the state in debt and laid stones for development projects without making fund provisions. It is a big challenge for us to recover the financial health and I am hopeful that with the help of the Centre, we will succeed to bring out the state out of the crisis.”

“I had never thought that the dreams of the people of Mandi would be realised and I would be the Chief Minister. I still remember when the Prime Minister called me by name, saying, ‘Jai Ram, come here, you are going to get a much bigger responsibility,’” he said.

The Chief Minister said he too was deeply pained at the loss of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, but the future had something else in store for the people of Himachal, adding that he was grateful to the people, especially those of Seraj, who always motivated and encouraged him.

He said it was the time to rejoice as the Congress was wiped out of the district.
