SHIMLA: Heeding the directions of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to “prepare and implement” a 100-day action plan, the Police Department has listed 12 points that need to be addressed.

Heeding the directions of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to “prepare and implement” a 100-day action plan, the Police Department has listed 12 points that need to be addressed.

Most targets have been met, while efforts are on to implement the remaining issues. All eight sanctioned women police stations for Shimla, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Baddi, Sirmaur, Una and Bilaspur have been made functional and directions have been issued for creating special cells for the investigation of cases of crime against women. Gudiya helpline, Hoshiyar Singh helpline and Shakti button app are functioning properly. The target to impart self-defence training to girls in 351 schools will be met, a press release issued by the Police Department today stated.

To ensure the strict implementation of the NDPS Act, a joint task force has been set up. As many as 173 persons, including 12 from Nepal, have been arrested for smuggling and 146 cases have been registered. During this period, the police seized 57.7-kg charas, 1,544-gm opium,157.3-kg poppy husk,145.1-gm heroin, 7.92-gm smack, 6,300 drugs and 16,274 capsules. — TNS
